Cultural Heritage –Source and Resource for the Non-Formal Education of Young People
The Transylvania Trust Foundation, responsible for the restoration and revitalisation of Bánffy Castle in Bonțida, organises and implements various cultural, artistic and educational programmes in this historic monument, providing opportunities for activities aimed at promoting and valorising built cultural heritage for the benefit of professionals in the field, the local community and the wider public.
The project “Cultural Heritage – Source and Resource for the Non-Formal Education of Young People”, co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund, proposes a series of integrated and creative activities aimed at developing the skills and competences of educators/facilitators (at lower and upper secondary school level) and trainers in designing non-formal educational programmes based on local cultural heritage (workshops), as well as developing the competences of pre-adolescents and young people through learning and personal development activities (Heritage Day and thematic camp).
At the same time, the project offers opportunities to explore and discover local cultural heritage through interactive and entertaining experiences by developing a mobile adventure game through which young people will be able to explore Bánffy Castle in Bonțida in an engaging way, relevant to their digital world.
The project’s most important outcome will be the development and dissemination of a digital educational package based on STEAM elements in the field of cultural heritage, intended for educators (at lower and upper secondary school level), facilitators of non-formal educational programmes and trainers in heritage interpretation. It will include two sets of innovative educational tools (short-term/1 day and long-term/5 days) for pre-adolescents and young people aged 10–16. The digital educational package will include curricula, activity sheets, videos and other materials for organising non-formal educational programmes in a cultural heritage context for pre-adolescents and young people.
Cultural project co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund (AFCN).
