Heritage Days for Schoolchildren – October 2016

This October, Transylvania Trust, Cluj organised two Heritage Days for Schoolchildren at Bánffy Castle, Bonțida, as part of the ARTEC project and co- financed by the Cluj County Council.

The Heritage Days for Schoolchildren is an extracurricular event offering interactive, non-formal education programmes for schoolchildren in a historical environment, with the aim of encouraging children to protect our built heritage and to recognise its values. Hungarian and Romanian primary classes from schools in Cluj County, accompanied by their teachers, had the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of the Castle in Bonțida and with that of the Bánffy family, to discover the buildings’ atmosphere and to explore the historical past of the region by interactive presentations, guided tours and reconstructed historical dance workshops. By drawing what they loved most about the Castle, they expressed their admiration for historic buildings and for the unforgettable experiences of the day.

The classes participating in the events we pupils attending the 3rd and 4th grades of the Bonțida Secondary School and the Răscruci Vocational School.
