Press Release – Bánffy Day at Bonțida Castle

On September 24, after a summer full of camps and artistic residencies, Bánffy Castle, Bonţida opens its doors once again for families and all art lovers alike.

From 14.00 visitors can learn more about the Bánffy family and the Castle’s history through guided tours offered in Hungarian and Romanian.

At 15:30 we invite our audience to a meeting with the members of the Bánffy family and translators, where fragments will be read of short stories written by Miklós Bánffy and translated into Romanian within a translation workshop organised in September.

Art exhibitions will be opened at 17.00. The ARTEC project, implemented by the Transylvania Trust Foundation together with its partners, organised artistic residencies, where the participating artists and craftsmen created contemporary works of art inspired by the historic space and its related values. The public will be able to see the works created during the artistic residencies in Câmpulung and Bonţida. At the same time, an exhibition featuring the covers of the Tribuna magazine from Cluj will also be opened.

At 19.00, the day will end with a unique theatre show entitled His(s)tory, a play combining classic theatre and performance art about Miklós Bánffy’s complex personality, accompanied with live music and a special lighting installation.

We provide free transportation from Cluj for those who wish to come to the Castle. Please indicate your intention of using the means of transport by writing us at the office@transylvaniatrust.ro address by 22 September 2017, 2 pm.
